Ashley and Seth were married on a warm summer evening in August. This beautiful candid was photographed in collaboration with my wife,Wanda and associate photographer, Angel Hart. As the sun set over Rosemont Winery in Bracey, VA., the newlyweds shared a kiss just outside the vineyard of ripened grapes. The celebration continued with dinner at the winery and dancing until midnight.

Guitar Man
T.J. is a rising senior at Colonial Heights High School. His interests include soccer, reading the Bible and playing guitar. The image shown here was captured in the studio to feature T.J. with his guitar as well as his class ring. The guitar was raised to a level where the contour of the guitar followed the jawline of T. J.'s face. The two elements bring harmony and flow to the overall feel of the portrait. The wrist bands were shown as well as each one is representative of his life as he begins his final year in High School.

The Unscripted Moment
Weddings seldom go as planned. In fact the unscripted moments are often the best and most memorable. In this case, the flower girl decided not to walk down the aisle at the very last moment. Even with gentle reassurance she was determined to not make the journey down the aisle with hundreds of eyes focused on her. As the ceremony continued the soloist (her mother) began to sing. Curious, her daughter peeked around the corner to see a warm smile from her mother and a discreet gesture that encouraged this priceless moment; unscripted but now forever remembered.

Caroline Highland
Caroline is a rising senior at Park View High School. With aspirations of becoming a speech therapist, she is a striker on the soccer field and also "striking" in front of the camera. Caroline was kind enough to show us her scoring technique by kicking a few ball into the net after her session. Thank for indulging us Caroline.

Seniors 2010
We first photographed Allison three years ago when her sister Meagan was a rising senior at Hopewell High. Now, its Allison's turn to shine. As you can see, her personality is as bright as her smile and striking blue eyes. Dance is a big part of Allison's life, so she brought several pair of dance shoes to include in a portrait. We ended her session outdoors to complete a very enjoyable morning.

Black and White
Summertime affords great opportunities to photograph family. If you think about it, some of our fondest memories come from time spent with family while on vacation at the beach, lake, etc. This portrait captured on the banks of Lake Anna features two sisters on their family vacation. Black and White is often a timeless addition to a portrait session, even in the full color of summer. Black and White cuts to the emotion of an image without the distraction of color. A moment these sisters will now remember for the rest of their lives. Enjoy your time together.

Nikki and Will
Another beautiful sunset greeted us as we photographed Nikki and Will on the banks of the James River to celebrate their engagement. A tennis player in high school, Nikki is now a successful dentist as is her fiance. We worked fast to take advantage of the beautiful light at twilight (almost dark) as the sun set in the western sky. The expressions of this delightful couple were a great reflection of the love they have for each other. We look forward to the coming months leading up to their wedding in October.

Bridal Portrait
A woman begins planning her wedding when she is oh..about....five years old. (Us guys begin thinking of marriage when we meet the right woman much later in life.) A bridal portrait is a lasting way for the bride to visually see this childhood dream become a reality. Complete with hair and makeup, a bridal session allows a woman to enjoy her gown for an hour or so as portraits are designed and created. Not all of the images need to be formal however. In this case, Molly chose to have her portraits created in our studio. Her natural grace in front of the camera provided wonderful opportunities for both classic as well as casual images. Thank you, Molly.
