Congratulations Class of 2009

Many High School Seniors will be walking across the stage in the coming weeks to accept one of their greatest accomplishments, their High School diploma. We have met many of these future doctors, teachers, scientist, athletes; the list goes on. To say it is a privilege to photograph these young adults at this milestone is an understatement. We know a wonderful life awaits you all, with your share of ups and downs, smiles and tears, but for now you are AT THE TOP! Congratulations!!

A Common Bond

A portrait that speaks to the subjects interests is the most successful. In this case, Mom and daughter share an interest in riding a thoroughbred horse. The clothing compliments this portrait along with the flowing line created by the pasture fence. Careful control of lighting and capturing the graceful beauty of the horse completes this wonderful image intended as a gift for Dad's birthday. The portrait was composed and sized to grace a large wall in the family's home. An heirloom that will be enjoyed for a lifetime.

Boys will be Boys

We photographed BJ's wedding three years ago. He and his wife, Maria are now weeks away from the birth of their second child. Along for his wife's maturnity session, BJ and his son, David got in a little "rough house" during a break from the portraits. The house will soon be buzzing with the addition of a new child. Even so, I'm sure David will look forward to moments like this with his dad.

A Father's Prayer

A wedding day is full of hustle and activity, but I often witness fathers finding a peaceful place to offer a quiet prayer or collect their thoughts before giving their daughter away. This image was captured as I was walking down the hall to photograph the bride's hurried activity with all of her bridesmaids making their final preparations. In contrast, I passed a half open door, and noticed the father of the bride, alone and in quiet contemplation. Without interruption, I discreetly captured the above image. My heart filled with emotion as I saw myself in this moment years from now. This image is now part of the bride's wedding story, complete with the memory of her father's prayer.

The Wisdom of a Child

The absolute favorite age Wanda and I enjoy photographing is a child between 4- 6 years old. At this age, a child is brutally honest and each individual expression is unique. Emma is featured in the above sequence and it is very evident that she was ALWAYS one step ahead of us. Beautiful natural light brings out Emma's expressions as we share in a "conversation" of her special interests.
